Project summary: In 2012, LSI will continue to support landmine/UXO and cluster munitions survivors through the integrated approach in reintegration and full inclusion of survivors into the society. Based on the human rights principals and values, LSI integrated approach and outreach work aim to improve survivors’ physical and mental health, increase survivors’ economic self-sufficiency and improve survivors’ empowerment in their social environment and their inclusion in society.

Project title: Economic Opportunity Initiative for landmine survivors in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Project summary: This project will contribute to the implementation of LSI’s Economic Opportunity (EO) program which is designed to assist survivors in meeting challenges in gaining economic sustainability and independence. The program is implemented through a combination of support activities and services for survivors but also through the work with communities, private employers and local authorities aiming to improve economic opportunity prospects for survivors.

Project summary: Women with disabilities entrepreneurship project focuses on economic empowerment of women through business development training, self-employment and promotion of women entrepreneurial capacities and potentials.

Project title: Support to the work of the mechanism for protection and promotion of human rights of persons with disabilities

Project summary: The project will contribute to advancement of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina by assisting the state institutions to set up methods and mechanisms for efficient and timely implementation of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Project activities focus on building capacity of the Council for PWDs, advisory instance for the issues regarding PWDs that is attached to the national Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees, to assume its responsibility for launching implementation and monitoring of the Convention.

Project title: Social Reconciliation Through Arts, Sports and Employment in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Project summary: Project is aimed at improving the interactive communication and cooperation of war survivors using arts and sports, as well as promoting employment prospects for those affected by war, survivors and person with disabilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighboring countries.
