Small business development training for women with disabilities

Landmine Survivors Initiative, within the „Women with Disabilities Entrepreneurship Support Project“, is organizing two-day educational group/training in small business planning and development. Training will be held in hotel Drina (Kneza Milosa 1) in Bijeljina on April 24-25,2013 starting at 9:00 hours.

Training will gather thirteen participants from Bijeljina, Zvornik, Teocak and Sapna, including women landmine survivors, women providing care for their disabled family members/landmine survivors and women with disabilities.

Project activities are aimed at building capacities of women with disabilities to achieve economic independence and enhance economic opportunities for themselves and members of their families.

Project is funded by the Office of Public Affairs through the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through International Campaign to Ban Landmines/Cluster Munitions Coalition.

 

Information campaign "Equality-Non discrimination-Rights for All"

On the occasion of marking the ratification of the UN Convention on rights of persons with disabilities in BiH (April 11th), Landmine Survivors Initiatives and BOSPO, in close cooperation with Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, organized press conference in hotel “Sarajevo” in Sarajevo. As part of the wider awareness raising campaign “Equality. Non-discrimination. Rights for All”, initial Report on the implementation of the Convention in BiH was introduced and the work of the BiH Council of persons with disabilities, advisory body of the BiH Council of Ministers, in charge for the promotion and protection of rights of persons with disabilities was promoted.

Press conference and the campaign are part of the project activities “Support to the mechanism for promotion and protection of human rights of persons with disabilities” financed by the European Union within the program “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights-Country-based support scheme for 2010”.

Eighth meeting of the BiH Council of PWDs

Eighth meeting of the BiH Council for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) was held on April 9,2013 in hotel “Park” in Doboj. Members of the Council defined activities in harmonization of the existing legislation in the area of accessibility for persons with disabilities and agreed to strengthen their role in monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the disability strategies/policies in BiH.    

Support for realization of the meeting was ensured through the project “Support to the work of the mechanism for protection and promotion of human rights of persons with disabilities” financed by the European Union program “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR)- Program of Support for 2010”, implemented by the Landmine Survivors Initiatives in partnership with Association “Bospo” from Tuzla and close collaboration with B&H Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees.
