Second Review Conference of the Mine Ban Treaty will be held in Cartagena, Colombia, on November 29- December 4, 2009. It is expected that the Conference will gather over 1000 delegates, representatives of State and Non-State Parties, as well as representatives of relevant international organizations and non governmental organizations dealing with the mine actions. Main objectives of the Conference include information sharing in regard to the progress made in the implementation of the Treaty but also focusing the public attention on the humanitarian aspects of the Treaty related to the assistance to individuals and communities affected by landmines and encouragement of the international cooperation in securing the mine free world. LSI representatives at the Conference, Advocacy Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator, will coordinate activities of the non governmental organizations involved in the parallel program on mine victims assistance and will represent the “voice of survivors” at this important event.
